Environmental & Corporate Responsibility

In today's world everyone has a responsibility to look after the environment for the future generations. Transport and its effect on the environment will continue to be a controversial and emotive topic. We at Little's Chauffeur Drive recognise that we have a responsibility to continue to reduce the effects of our day to day business on the wider environment.

Efficient driving and route planning

Chauffeuring, by its very nature, is a significantly more environmentally and responsible way of driving a car. Smooth acceleration, gentle braking and steering results in a much more efficient drive, leading to improved fuel economy and less wear and tear on a car's component parts.

Proper route planning prior to your hire commencing, rather than reliance upon computerised route guidance equipment during the hire, ensures that unnecessary miles are not incurred and that your chauffeur knows exactly the shortest and most efficient route to take. This has the added bonus of keeping your costs down.

Green fleet and servicing

Greenest luxury car

Our fleet consists of modern, fuel efficient cars most of which can easily return in excess of 40 miles per gallon. Many of these run on low sulphur diesel and we also use liquid petroleum gas (LPG) where possible. Even our 1933 Vintage Rolls Royce uses modern day unleaded petrol. Our luxury saloon fleet consists of Jaguar XJ diesel saloons, recently voted “Britain's greenest luxury car”, beating off competition from other luxury cars like the Mercedes S320, the BMW 7 Series and the hybrid Lexus LS600h.

We carry out all our own servicing at our premises in Glasgow & Edinburgh, with all vehicles maintained to manufacturers standards for the duration of their life with Little's. After servicing all waste materials are properly disposed of and recycled by specialist companies, again minimising the environmental impact of servicing.

All vehicles are washed by hand and only cold water is used in this process. Soaps, detergents or other aggressive cleaners are not used and we do not have any power hoses, brushes or steam cleaners which would increase our electricity consumption unnecessarily.

For over 40 years we have had a carefully considered policy on vehicle replacement. Rather than adopting an environmentally irresponsible stance of replacing cars after only two or three years service, we carefully review and monitor each vehicle to ensure that the standards of vehicle provided are beyond reproach.

Reducing our environmental impact on and off the road

Recycled symbol

In our office, where possible our consumables are recycled. When clients request that we dispose of roadshow presentations it is securely shredded first. Plastics and metals are removed before destruction and eventual recycling. Newspapers and bottled water are only provided when requested to avoid unnecessary purchase and use. When they are provided, they are of course sent for recycling after you have finished with them.

Our office is fitted with low energy lighting and office equipment which reduces our electricity consumption during the day and we have electrically efficient off peak storage heating where required.

Supporting environmental regeneration

RSPB logo

To reduce our carbon footprint we actively support the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Estate at Corrimony where over 100,000 indigenous trees are being planted to assist regeneration of the wildlife environment.

Every efficient company should continually strive to improve their targets each year and we at Little's Chauffeur Drive consider our environmental targets and responsibilities to be as important as all others.
